The Ploughboys
{@name}

In a welcome return visit, Australian band The Ploughboys will bring their brand of raucous folk-rock to Speyfest 2009. The sound has been described as "Australian flavoured Celtic roots rock folk music with sublime balladry that has driven many a sane man to fits of hysterical sobbing and more than a few well-balanced women to bouts of whisky-fuelled interpretative dance". But anyone that caught them last year will already know this!

For over 10 years now The Ploughboys have enthralled festival crowds in places as far apart as Sweden and Singapore, Hobart and Helsinki and will have added Stornoway and an appearance at the Hebridean Celtic Festival on their way to Fochabers in August. The Ploughboys are:

  • Damian Howard - vocals, accordion, acoustic guitar and keyboards
  • Jason King - vocals and guitar
  • Tony O'Neill - fiddle, mandolin and vocals
  • John Edgar - bass and backing vocals
  • Declan O'Neill - drums and percussion
