Old Blind Dogs
{@name}

Formed in the early 1990's, Old Blind Dogs has survived the sort of personnel changes that would sorely test the staying power of any folk band and yet it remains one of Scottish music's true supergroups.

Along the way the band has recorded eleven albums and picked up numerous awards including Folk Band of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards in 2004 and 2007. Much of the music is rooted in the folk tradition of the North-East of Scotland, where the sole remaining founder member Jonny Hardie earned his spurs. But the back-catalogue carries influences from rock, reggae, jazz, blues and in the hands of percussionist Fraser Stone, the occasional Middle-Eastern rhythm. Aaron Jones, no stranger to Speyfest, features on lead vocals, bouzouki and guitar and the current four-piece is completed by Ali Hutton on border pipes and whistles. The Old Blind Dogs still stand at the cutting edge of Scotland's roots revival and has developed its own trademark style, treating the tradition with respect but giving well known songs and tunes the OBD treatment, letting the audience enjoy the music as if they were hearing it for the first time.
