Michael McGoldrick
{@name}

Michael McGoldrick has been at the top of the Folk tree for years now, ever since winning the BBC Young Tradition Award back in 1995. That was followed with Instrumentalist of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2001 and Musician of the Year in 2006. A founder member of Celtic rock band Toss the Feathers, Michael went on to play with Flook and Lunasa and still performs with the likes of Capercaillie, Afro-Celt Sound System and Kate Rusby. He has released three critically acclaimed solo albums, the most recent, Aurora, in January this year. Six years in the making, the latest album was eagerly anticipated...and doesn't disappoint!! Michael's nine-piece band includes long time collaborator Desi Donnelly on fiddle, John Joe Kelly and Ed Boyd from Flook, Capercaillie's Donald Shaw and Ewen Vernal, Neil Yates on Trumpet with Parvinder Bharat and James Mackintosh on percussion. A big band with a great sound led by the flute and whistle genius that is Michael McGoldrick.
