Hom Bru
Hom Bru

Shetland based Hom Bru formed in 1978 immediately attracting accolades both at home and further afield. Youthful spirit and a musical sense of adventure (something they still retain to this day) saw them move to Edinburgh in 1980 where they established a reputation as great musicians and the wild men of folk, touring extensively across the UK and Europe.

Long since relocated back in their native islands the band has survived several line-up changes although three of the original members Davie Henry (guitar, mandolin and vocals) Gary Peterson (mandolin and banjo) and Brian Nicholson (guitar and vocals) still remain. Earlier this year the band appeared as part of a stunning line-up at Shetland Night, part of the programme at Glasgow's Celtic Connections.

They have released four albums to date the latest of which was appropriately titled 'No Afore Time'. They still attract large audiences wherever they appear and witnessing a live Hom Bru event is still as entertaining a musical experience as you are likely to have anywhere.
