Capercaillie
Calum Stewart and Heikki Bourgault
Daimh

Opening this concert is the talented duo of Calum Stewart, flautist from Garmouth with Heikki Bourgault from Brittany on guitar. A keen student of the traditional music of the North-east of Scotland, Calum is also gaining a reputation as a writer of fine tunes for the wooden flute.

One of Scottish music's true super groups, Capercaillie have sold over one million albums worldwide in a long career that has taken them from the dances at Oban High School to playing at the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in Baghdad. After a gap of ten years, we're delighted to welcome them back to Speyfest 2010.

A six-piece trad. outfit that brings the influences of their Scottish, Irish and Cape Breton homes to bear on the music. Nominated in the Best Group category at the recent Scots Trad Awards, Daimh complete the line-up for this year's Opening Concert, offering the very best in traditional sounds.
